Decreasing Faith in the European Union

Inequality a Significant Problem

Europeans are overwhelmingly concerned about the economic challenges they face. Nearly eight-in-ten (78%) say joblessness is a very big problem, 71% say public debt is a very big concern, and 67% say it is rising prices that they are very worried about. Six-in-ten cite the gap between the rich and the poor as very troubling and 85% think such inequality has increased in the last five years. Little wonder then that 77% say the current economic system favors the wealthy.
